Meet Our Hero
This is Anne Gray, some of us know her by simply “A”. In January of 2023, A was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gherig’s Disease). The devastating news has completely changed her life. ALS is a motor neuron disease that destroys nerve cells which results in loss of functionality in the muscles they serve. The cause is unknown.
If you have been blessed to know Anne, then you know she is one of the most selfless people you will ever meet and truly one of a kind! She loves spending time with her family, friends, church family, and to go on a nice long trip to their family’s cabin in the mountains. Though, it’s the many precious children in her life that bring her the most joy. Anne and her husband Fred also owned and operated Subs Plus in Wilson for over 25 years. Only the truest locals know their subs were the best this town has ever seen… #19 anyone?
The first piece of medical equipment she needed after her diagnosis was a cane and here we are just a short year later and her needs have progressed to a power wheelchair and a Hoyer Lift. Our fundraising goal of $25,000 is modest when you consider it costs the average patient nearly $200,000 per year between assistive equipment, medication, doctor’s visits, and surgeries. Anne has also decided to give back to the organization that continues to help her and others so much, ALS United NC. This means 100% of all monies raised will go to help the over 1,000 patients living with ALS in NC.
We ask that you please consider supporting Anne and her family in their time of need, in dollars and prayers.
